Name: Whitney Morrow
City: Surf City, North Carolina
Main Hustle: Flight Attendant
Side Hustle: Lifestyle Blogger
How did you get started?: Traveling and being away from home can be hard and stressful. On top of it all, my husband was also deployed. I was getting physically sick from stress and was looking for a way to keep my wandering mind busy. So Aiming to Stress Less was born!
When/where do you work on your Side Hustle?: On my layovers, in the airport, at home while my husband is at work. I love that I can work on my blog, no matter where I am in the world!
What are the challenges of your Side Hustle?: I think my biggest challenge is finding a work and life balance. At times I’m working so hard on my blog, I don’t even leave my bed all day. But also there are days when I’m running errands, flying, working, etc., and realize I haven’t worked on my blog all day! Which is not good, because it’s important to keep everything up to date, and it can be easy to get behind.
What are the rewards of your Side Hustle?: Blogging has made me explore on my layovers more, get outside and be active, and let me express myself through web design. I have also met a lot of new people—people who are trying to start a blog, people who like my blog, and even some experienced bloggers. The community is so supportive.
Who is your greatest supporter?: My family. The first people to read my posts are my sister, mom, and husband. They are always willing to help me gather content, let me know when I have a grammatical error, and help me think of new ideas.
Who/what is your greatest source of inspiration?: Traveling! I have realized the more I explore new towns the more ideas I think of. I have discovered so many cool boutiques, coffee shops, and tourist attractions just by wandering around. I love sharing my discoveries with my readers.
Have you received recognition for your work? I have received the Sunshine blogger award and am a member of The Blog Society.
What is your dream for your Side Hustle?:
My hope is that when someone visits my site they are able to escape the everyday stresses of life, and after searching around and reading a post or two, they leave feeling uplifted and inspired.
Do you have any advice for others working on a Side Hustle?:
Keep at it! There are times where you get discouraged, but “commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
