Side Hustle: I am a wellness/fitness coach, author, and blogger.
Do you have a website, store, or social media presence?: I use my Instagram profile to share my fitness and wellness journey with others. I enjoy encouraging other people to fight for their fitness goals. I also enjoy educating others on tips and tools that have worked for me.
I also have a blog, which focuses on my experience as a Nigerian American with immigrant parents. I also share weightloss tips and tools!
How did you get started?: I had been battling with food obsession and excess weight for years. I finally got tired of giving in to food addiction, and I also got tired of not being able to participate in outdoor activities that had weight requirements. I learned ways to cope with anxiety and depression that did not involve food. I eventually lost over 70lbs and decided to start helping others do the same thing.
When/where do you work on your Side Hustle?: I work on my side hustle after work and as soon as I wake up in the morning. Even if I have to take a nap after work, I am still going to workout and post on social media when I get up.
What are the challenges of your Side Hustle?:
My natural defense when facing issues is to run to food and rest, so not only do I have to ensure that I am not doing that, but I also have to ensure that I am continuing to be a light and a motivator to others.
In addition there’s always a battle (feelings of guilt) because I want to ensure that I am putting enough effort into both my main and side hustles.
What are the rewards of your Side Hustle?:
I love seeing people change their thinking patterns and their bodies. I know the pain of accepting the role of “the fat one,” so it’s important that I help other people become their best selves. I love meeting and connecting with new people; the support that we give each other is incredible.
Who is your greatest supporter?: It’s hard to pick one! My family and friends are all so supportive.
Who/what is your greatest source of inspiration?: There are so many people on Instagram who have shared their wellness stories, and they have all inspired me and kept me going.
What is your dream for your Side Hustle?: I want to reach people worldwide. I want to encourage many more people to change their minds, bodies, and lives. I want to see my side hustle expand to other avenues and industries.
Do you have any advice for others working on a Side Hustle?:
Keep going. Be purposeful and intentional. Make time for your side hustle. Identify your support system and share with them. Make time for self-care.
