Heather: Market Partner for Haircare Company

Name: Heather Danielle Trude

Age: 31

City: Washington, DC

Main Hustle: I work as an Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of the Washington Operation office for a multi-industry, international company worth 14.3 billion dollars. The primary role of this position is to assist in all areas necessary to facilitate and coordinate needs for the President and CEO–everything from calendar management to providing briefing materials and meeting background information for high level meetings with the Executive Branch and Legislative branch. I also facilitate and coordinate meetings with other CEOs, Senators, Chief of Staffs, and high level appointed officials at the White House and Pentagon.

Side Hustle: In January of this year (2019), I started using a haircare line due to social media posts I kept seeing from a friend from college, so I reached out, she created a personalized system for me, and I loved the products so much that I decided to sell three months ago. I decided to invest $199 into my future and was scared of failing, but I figured if nothing else, maybe I could pay my cell phone bill or parking in my apartment building or the tolls that I pay to drive 11 miles to work everyday; best case scenario I can pay off debt and finally not have to live paycheck to paycheck because living in Washington DC is OUTRAGEOUSLY EXPENSIVE!!!

Three months in: I couldn’t be happier. Not only do I love and believe in these products, but the people I have connected to are so many amazing and genuine people. I’ve literally had people I grew up with in Naples, Florida, and went to elementary school with reach out, so reforming these friendships has been such a blessing in itself, and on top of that, helping people feel better about themselves is something that makes my heart so full and makes me want to continue to strive toward higher goals!

How did you get started?: I reached out to my sponsor who sold me the products and after a phone conversation and some research I decided to take a leap of faith!!

When/where do you work on your Side Hustle?: During days when Congress is on recess and my boss is out of the office/things are slow. After my 9-6 work hours at home for a few hours and on weekends.

What are the challenges of your Side Hustle?: Encouraging the women under you to be consistent and patient.

What are the rewards of your Side Hustle?: Helping people feel better about themselves and more confident, reconnecting with old friends, meeting new friends, meeting like-minded women all over the country, paying off debt, and of course having amazing, healthy hair in the process!

Who is your greatest supporter?: My Sponsor is AMAZING: Aly Truss.

Who/what is your greatest source of inspiration?: I’ve always been a very driven, outgoing, and goal-oriented individual. However, many years ago I found my brother dead from a drug overdose, and as terrible as this sounds, it gave me a whole new outlook on life. It taught me how precious life is and how important it is to not let anyone stand in your way of your dreams and goals because before you know it, it all could be over in the blink of an eye. My brother’s loss will forever remain with me, but I believe I am stronger because of it.

I do it for me of course, but I like to think I’m accomplishing and dreaming double for all that my brother was unable to accomplish in such a short life.

Have you received recognition for your work?: I have received some congrats text messages from my sponsor.

What is your dream for your Side Hustle?: To achieve the rank of Market Mentor or higher and proudly drive a paid-for white Cadillac. Also, maybe one day be able to travel the world and work remotely and after have children and work from home would be my ultimate goal in life!!

Do you have any advice for others working on a Side Hustle?: It’s not easy. Don’t give up. Consistency is KEY.

You’ll have bad days and good days, you’ll have dry spells where you sell nothing or receive no feedback, but push onward and use it as motivation to do better.

Think more creatively with your next posts and amp up your game and product knowledge as much as possible. Do this everyday and you will have success!! 🙂
