Name: Audrey James
City: Daphne, AL
Main Hustle: Since 2012 I have been a full-time, multi-million dollar producing real estate agent. I am licensed in Florida and Alabama. My aunt encouraged me to get my license, and I walked into this career blindly but have never looked back! I have had the absolute honor of helping others make one of the biggest decision of their lives. I have made a lot of friends in the past seven years. Most of them are more like family. Buying or selling a home is an emotional thing in most people’s lives, and I am here to guide them every step of the way and make it a happy experience!
Side Hustle: I have been very passionate about my health and wellness for some time now and love encouraging others throughout the process! I have been doing at-home workouts since 2011 and seen great results and love bringing others along with me! That only opened the doors for me to explore all things that affect my health and wellness. In 2018 I began learning about and researching what’s really in my skincare and beauty products and the products I put on my children. I was shocked at what I was learning and began tirelessly searching for something better for us! That’s when I found Beautycounter! I joined their amazing mission to educate people on what’s really in the products they use daily and the negative effects it has on their health. I love that their number one priority is education and making a change in this world, and the fact that their entire line of products is safe and effective is only a bonus!
How did you get started?: I watched a documentary on the chemicals and toxins in our products and began my research. I had found a local blogger on Instagram who was talking about her story and sharing her safer products, and I started asking her questions. It wasn’t long until I was committed to the mission!
When/where do you work on your Side Hustle?: All day, everyday! Haha I have three kiddos, and as a full-time realtor, it can be hard. However I am already using my wonderful Beautycounter products, so I just pop on social media when I am getting ready and share! I also reach out to my friends and family to let them know what I am doing and share the knowledge I have learned. I don’t pressure them but invite their questions, and I am ready and willing with samples and education to back up what I am saying!
What are the challenges of your Side Hustle?: I guess the only challenge is not being able to spread the word fast enough! Haha or maybe getting people to understand the importance of being aware of what you’re putting on your body. The cosmetic industry is poorly regulated in the United States, and there are a lot of harmful, disease-causing chemicals going on your body daily. It only takes 26 seconds for it to hit your blood stream.
What are the rewards of your Side Hustle?: Definitely educating the public and getting safer products into their hands! A lot of people don’t know what is in their products; I didn’t until this past year! Once people know better, they can do better. Plus I am surrounded by an amazing community of wonderful people who have become lifelong friends and mentors.
Who is your greatest supporter?: Probably my mentor, Sarah, and her mentor, Bryant!
Who/what is your greatest source of inspiration?:
My children are who inspire me to make better choices for myself, so I be around longer for them and to make better decisions for them because they have no choice otherwise.
Have you received recognition for your work?: Oh gosh! Only in real estate at this point! Since becoming a realtor, I have been a multi-million dollar producer year after year, received the International Diamond Society Award with Coldwell Banker two years in a row, and was chosen to be part of their Social Media Ambassadors. I relocated to Re/Max, where I was awarded Executive Club Membership for my achievements and am an Institute for Luxury Home Marketing Member! I only hope to be as successful with Beautycounter.
What is your dream for your Side Hustle?: To spread the word and get safer products into the hands of everyone I meet. I hope to grow with this company and only deepen my ability to continue helping others.
Do you have any advice for others working on a Side Hustle?: It won’t be easy, but if you are passionate about it, it will be worth it!
Prioritize your goals, time block, and get out of your comfort zone! You have a solution to someone’s problem!
Find a good mentor, someone doing what you want to be doing, and do what they tell you to do! Like I was told when beginning my real estate career: “Don’t reinvent the wheel!”
